Question 9.   Will your study involve participants from a vulnerable population (children, elderly, prisoners, Native American Tribes, pregnant women, decisionally or psychologically impaired individuals)?

What you can expect from this situation:

This study may require Full Board review. Follow the instructions below to view the meeting times and submission due dates.

What steps will you take during this process:

  1. Log into iRIS:https://iris.ou.edu/
  2. Click on the Review Board Meetings link under the My Assistant tab on the left.
  3. Find the upcoming meeting date labeled with the code “NC” for Norman Campus.
  4. Actual meeting dates can be found under the header of Meeting Date.
  5. The date we must receive the submission in order for it to be included on the next Board meeting’s agenda is listed under "Submission Due By"
  6. Meeting times and locations are also listed.
  7. Submit your online application and upload supporting documents using the generic research application process described in "Question #6: Are you collecting data from living individuals?"
  8. You will receive notice that a pre-review will be conducted on your study as an email message from the iRIS system. This message will describe changes you should make before the study is added to the board meeting agenda to include an invitation to attend the meeting.

Do you need to complete CITI Training?

Yes. You, your faculty sponsor (if applicable), and anyone listed as key study personnel in Question #6 must complete CITI training. You may still submit your study application documents before training is complete, but you must complete the training before the study can be approved. What else do you need to submit with your application?

  1. Complete the online application and upload the appropriatedocuments as described in "Question #6: Are you collecting data from living individuals?"
  2. A list of potential documents you will submit is within iRIS and you will be prompted to upload them after you complete the application.
