What you can expect from this situation:
On the application, you may be listed as the principal investigator, but you are required to have a faculty sponsor.
What steps will you take during this process:
- Log into iRIS:https://iris.ou.edu/
- Go to the Study Assistant tab on the left. Select Add a New Study.
- Complete your study application, but do not sign-off and submit. Select “exit form” tab.
- Go back to the Home screen and select “My Studies” on the left.
- Open your study and select the “Student as Principal Investigator” link under Submission Forms.
- Select ‘Add New Form’ and answer all questions.
- Click the green bar under the “Principal Investigator Signature” heading on the third page and input your username and password. Save the signature and close the form without submitting. Instruct your faculty sponsor that they will receive a notice on their iRIS homepage the next day instructing them to sign-off on the form.
- The faculty sponsor will then go into My Studies, open your study and look through all study documents, advising you to revise anything they wish changed.
- Once your faculty sponsor is satisfied with your submission, they will open the task on their homepage, go to the third section, input their sign-off information into the green, Faculty Sponsor signature bar, Save and Continue, and then sign-off and submit.
- Have your Faculty Sponsor notify you once they submit the form. You may now sign-off and submit your full study.
Do you need to complete CITI Training?
Yes. You, your faculty sponsor, and anyone listed as key study personnel in Question #6 must complete CITI training. You may still submit your study application documents before training is complete, but you must complete the training before the study can be approved.
